The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme with a prompt featuring a book related question. The hop begins on a Friday and ends on a Thursday and should hopefully give people the opportunity to learn something new about the blogger.
The Book Blogger Hop can be found on Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer and obviously my answers can be found here!
It feels a bit weird answering this question for two reasons:-
- Book reviews are probably the type of post I publish the least on account of me hating writing reviews so this question should probably be ‘do you even feature book reviews?!’
- If you wanted to know what else I feature on my blog well…. it’s right here…. on the blog you’re reading. If someone wanted to know, they’d just click on stuff right?
Although I feel a little bit like I’m stating the obvious I figured I would answer the question anyway as doing a summary never hurts.
These are the ones that I only do on an ‘as and when’ basis.
Blog Awards are if any lovely, lovely bloggers nominate me with a kudos. These normally take the form of a pretty badge to add to my blog (which I have yet to do) and some selected questions to answer.
It’s a pretty similar deal when it comes to Book Tag posts – a lovely blogger tags me to answer questions. Whereas Blog Award questions can be random, the Book Tag questions usually follow a theme.
Feature posts are just random posts that don’t fit into any other category listed and are usually updates that are out of the ordinary!
Book Theme is a post that I try (and often fail) to publish on or around the third Thursday of the month. Why the third Thursday? Honestly, it was because the alliteration made it easy to remember.
I’m part of a Goodreads group called ‘Play Book Tag’ and each month the members vote from a list for that month’s theme. Members can either read books, discuss books or recommend books related to that theme. Or all three. In these posts I try and talk about what the theme is, what books relate to it and what’s considered popular on Goodreads.
Conversations in a Coffee Shop is a recent feature which I introduced in 2020 – about a year overdue from my originally intended introduction of 2019! It’s just a general post to put anything and everything else book related that doesn’t fit into one of the other categories and isn’t a ‘feature.’
Fairy Tale Friday’s used to be a bi-weekly feature but as they are quite time consuming to do I moved it to once a month to be posted on the ‘final Friday.’ In theses posts I outline the fairy tale I have chosen for the month and provide my rambling, nonsensical thoughts on what I think it all means before topping it off with a ‘My Version’ if I were to ever do a retelling.
TBR and Wrap Up’s pretty much do as they say on the tin. At the beginning of the month I give my thoughts and ratings on books read in the previous month as well as say what I anticipate that I’ll read in the upcoming month. I’ve also now incorporated a monthly blog hop into this post to highlight what other bloggers have been posting.
Book Blogger Hop is what I’m doing right now! I’ve already included an explanation of this post at the very top so there’s no point repeating. I try and post this each Saturday. I don’t stick to doing the Book Blogger Hop every week, if there’s a question which I’ve answered before or that I’m just not feeling then I will skip that week.
Top 5 Tuesday is where Shanah at the Bionic Book Worm selects a topic for each week and the bloggers choose their Top 5’s for that topic. This is a Tuesday post (obviously!) but again, this isn’t always one that I do every week. It will depend on the topic chosen or even if I have time. I used to do Top 5 Wednesday’s over at Goodreads but that has now become defunct. The principle is the same!
I had to make a judgment call based on time. I don’t have a lot of it and doing Book Edit’s was a really time consuming activity. Although I enjoyed doing them, I genuinely couldn’t do everything I set out to do with this blog and so something needed to be set free. The ones I’ve done are still available to view though so have a peak if you’re interested.
Yeah… so the above is what is the current placeholder for my ‘Writerly‘ page which I will get round to at some point. I just need to…. you know…. get round to it. My aims and intentions for the Writerly page is to post things that I’ve written once I’ve done some severe editing as well as to write about my writing process. This is mainly because if I feel like I’m committed to something publicly then I’ll ruddy do the thing.
I need to do the thing.
This is my blog in a nutshell. It’s a large nutshell filled with nom’s. At least that’s what I hope some people will think anyway.
There may be nothing for you here. That’s fine! There may be some stuff for you here. That’s awesome! Everything here may be right up your alley. That’s even more awesome!
The main thing is, everything here is up my alley, otherwise I wouldn’t be writing it! As long as my enthusiasm for the topics comes through then I’m happy.
Let me know your thoughts on any of what my blog offers – feel free to chuck constructive critique my way – I can handle it. Let me know what your blog offers because I’d love to check it out!
See you next time!
