Hello lovely people!
I’m a week late with this one but as this is technically a hiatus week for Top 5 Tuesday I took an opportunity to sneak it in!
Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm has picked Books Under 300 Pages for the first of the August topics.
Instead of choosing the top 5 of books I’ve read (because my Goodreads account was only active in 2018 and I keep choosing the same books), I’m going to go with the top 5 books on my TBR!
Coming in on the nose at 300 pages is An Enchantment of Ravens. Everybody is talking about the author’s second book Sorcery of Thorns but as I haven’t read her first one I would like to start there.
So far I’ve read lots of positive reviews about Sorcery of Thorns. An Enchantment of Ravens? Not so much. Seems to be quite mixed but I quite like the summary and want to give it a chance.
I feel that The Silence of the Girls could be categorized alongside Circe by Madeline Miller and The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood as all are books written by contemporary female writers about Greek myths from the perspective of the often forgotten female(s).
This is 291 pages of what I hope is ‘good stuff.’
I recently read a book from Sarah Addison Allen called The Girl Who Chased the Moon and while it didn’t change my life it was a sweet, vanilla cake of a book and frankly I need more of that in my life so I’m also hoping The Sugar Queen is a 290 page vanilla cake of a book.
I’ve had Ask Me About My Uterus on my TBR for a while and I have a personal vested interest in this book. It’s nonfiction and I don’t often go for nonfiction but at 288 pages should hopefully be a quick(er) read.
The great thing about blogging is all the recommendations (and the community of course) and this has cropped up on a lot of the blogs that I follow and now I really want to read The Cold is in Her Bones!
Can’t think of a way to slide the page count in so um… 288 pages. There you go.
This my late selection!
As I haven’t read any of the above I have no idea whether they are or aren’t any good so thoughts and comments are welcome!
