Bookish: April 2019 Wrap Up & May 2019 TBR

TBR & Wrap UpOh my book loving friends…. what the heckin’ heck was April???!!!

March was all about reading and blogging and blogging about reading and what a successful month it had been book wise and then April came and I fell spectacularly from grace.

In what was the grandest of book slumps I managed to hit an all time record low of reading – one book.

One. Book.

It didn’t even rock my world.

This is going to be a very (very) small post this month. Don’t even worry about making a cup of tea to read it. A thimble shall do.

What I've Been Reading

One. Book.

I received The Confessions of Frannie Langton as an ARC and my review is here.

Sexy Stats.jpg

My goal for April was to read the two ARC’s that I needed to get through – The Confessions of Frannie Langton (as above) and The Doll Factory which is pending and stuck in mental limbo at the moment.

Suffice to say, April was not my best reading month but life, oh life, got in the way and so something had to give. It was either reading or sleep people and I chose sleep.

My blogging hasn’t been awesome during April either and I was slack on the blog hopping and I’m behind on replying to comments on my posts but I will get to them – I swear it.

My plan is to take a brief hiatus in May and I aim to use this time to try and get ahead of future posts and catch up on my comment replies.

As to that one book I read in April? I gave it a 3 which is not bad so I guess April can at least have a happy reading average.

What Will I Read

Let’s not go there.

Anything other than one book will be an instant success for May. I still have The Doll Factory to read and I still aim to read it but I think I’m going to just see how I go.

Which is what I said about April and we all saw how far that got me…

What Have I Been Up To

I worked. Like a lot.

My brain didn’t want to read after exerting itself and even over Easter when I had a four day break I didn’t use that time to catch up on reading but spent it eating my body weight in chocolate, drinking gin and taking multiple 2 hour naps.

It was awesome.

I saw Endgame though so that happened if that counts? It totally counts.

Don’t forget…..

I have a Giveaway!

If you want a free MasterClass then now is the time to try and win one!

MasterClass is an amazing platform that offers online classes with professionals in their fields of expertise. Those professionals? We are talking quality here.

I want to ‘giveaway’ a class that relates to books so you have a ton of classes to choose from if you win. More detail can be found here but the roster has Billy Collins, Neil Gaiman, Malcolm Gladwell, Margaret Atwood, Dan Brown, James Patterson, R.L. Stine and Judy Blume.

I’m excited to have someone win a class and if you want to be in for a chance to win than read the very lax rules here and enter by completing and submitting the contact form to me which can be found here.

If you have any questions let me know!

Good luck!

So… how was your April? Better than mine right?

Please help me overcome my most mega of slumps and send book recs and words of encouragement and gin!

  1. I know we’re like, over halfway through May, but I hope this month was a better one for you in terms of reading! And if not, NO WORRIES. It’s not like we’re in some sort of competition with ourselves to read the most amount of books every year!….Right? *Stares at Goodreads Reading Challenge*

  2. Aww, I’m sorry to hear that you feel your April hasn’t been productive! But sleep and chocolate…that’s productive in my books. 😉 I also applaud your masterpiece of an illustration – you made me laugh with “the horse has bolted. 😂

Ooh, how did you enjoy Endgame? I really liked it, though it seems many prefer Infinity War to that one (I can’t blame them). But all the Captain America twists in Endgame totally bought me over. 😁

    1. Sleep and chocolate are two of my favourite things so it all balances out in the end! Thank you very much, I pride myself on my high tech art skills 😉

I really enjoyed Endgame! I have some ‘issues’ that aren’t really issues but are more niggles than anything but they don’t stop my enjoyment of the movie at all. I felt like it was an incredibly fitting way to say goodbye to the ‘old’ phase and welcome in the new!

      1. Oh yes, Endgame definitely had its flaws (I personally wasn’t satisfied with Black Widow’s demise/”funeral” lol) although it as you say didn’t ruin the enjoyment for me either. 😁

  3. Sorry to hear April wasn’t your month 😦 Love your illustration tho 😀

I often feel like i’d rather sleep than read so much, but alas i just can’t. Maybe one day!

  4. I can definitely identify with the mood this blog posts expresses lol. April was basically a whole bunch of ??? with a whole bunch of :/ ?!? thrown into it. Weird pacing, weird mental state, MASSIVE reading slump. I feel youuuu. BUT WE’VE GOT THIS. It can only be better than this, right?? We will soon read the perfect book to get us back in the reading zone, I’m sure. Good luck!! c:

    1. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one experiencing the ‘??!!’ although I’m not glad that you had to join me in this ‘meh’ of months!

It’s the 10th May and I still haven’t picked up a book…. yoiks! My aim for May is 1 book but I will settle for half at this stage! I hope you’re fairing better!
