Book Blogger Hop

Bookish: Book Blogger Hop #2 & #3

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme with a prompt featuring a book related question. The hop begins on a Friday and ends on a Thursday and should hopefully give people the opportunity to learn something new about the blogger.

The Book Blogger Hop can be found on Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer and obviously my answers can be found here!

As I missed #2 last week I’m doing a cheeky cheat and doing #2 and #3 here today.

Q

*question submitted by Cathy at What Cathy Read Next*

I pretend I can multi-task but that’s a bold, bare-faced lie which others are fast becoming alert to. Well actually in life I can multi-task but not with books.

If I am into a book in a big way then there is nothing that can take my concentration away from it. It’s a bit like a conversation at a party, if I’m having a great conversation with someone than if anyone else tries to get my attention I’m a bit like, ‘I’ll be over when I’m done.’

If I’m not into a book in a big way and I’ve read a couple of chapters and I’m still not feeling it but hope to come back to it then I will park it, try for something new and then go back to it when I’m feeling ready. But that’s really the only time.

I like to be immersed in one world and one set of characters at a time if I can help it!

Yes. Because I am a needy, greedy person who desperately craves validation.

If a post doesn’t do too well, I try not to get to hung up about it because there could be many reasons why. Like it’s a crap post for example.

No seriously, not all posts will appeal to everyone. Not all posts will appeal to anyone. I have a weird love of statistics and may very well use the end of the year to look at what posts do appeal just to see if I need to cater better to those reading in terms of content produced.

While I won’t stop with content that I like doing if it’s not popular I do want people to be engaged.

It’s a funny ol’ thing this book blogging hobby.

What are your thoughts on the above? What do you do? Read one book at a time or many? Sneak peak at posts, check with vigour your viewing stats or post and step away from whence you came?

Let me know!

  1. I’m with you on juggling books, I just can’t. 🙄 I’ve tried many times, but I can only immerse in one world with one set of characters. So basically if I’m reading 2 books, one of them is on pause.

I check my stats often, but my favourite thing ever is the visitors from different countries part. 😁 I’m amazed at how someone from Mauritius reads my posts and almost no one from Balkan countries. 😂 I also love the bit where I can see which site/link led my visitors on my blog. ☺️ I don’t fret much about likes/views, I just write what I love and the people who read it matter because it means we have something in common. 😊

    1. I’m the same! One at a time otherwise my brain goes all wonky!

I’m learning to not mind so much but I think September was a wobbly month for me for some reason where I kept questioning what I was doing and why I was doing it!! I think that was due to being busy in my personal life and at work though, I have trouble letting it all roll into one ball of destruction if I’m not careful!

  2. I’m a big mood reader, so if I’m really feeling one book – I’ll read just that one book. But if not? I’ll probably have 2 or 3 on the go. Usually a novel, an audiobook and a non-fiction/short story collection or something. I often get really invested in one and put the others on the back burner though, haha.

And I’m just like you, I always check my stats. I try to write the kinds of posts that I would like to read and I always will, even if they don’t do super well. But my favorite thing about blogging is connecting with other book lovers, so engaging people matters a lot to me 😊

    1. Wow! That’s some multi-tasking! If I even try and read two books I muddle up all my storylines and characters. Though I suppose it could make for an interesting cross-over depending on the story!

I think a good rule is to put out content that you would enjoy reading because then you’ll enjoy writing it and I tend to think that shows! Not everything I do is clearly for everyone but I like to think that there’s something for *someone* but then I can’t help but get a little disheartened when something doesn’t do well because I feel like I’m failing a bit. Darn that self-doubt!

I love the engaging bit as well! Having comments and chats are my favourite thing about this!
