About 100 years ago when the winters were harsh and the wolves prowled the lands and while we clutched against one another in the darkness for warmth as our bellies screamed for food, Sara @ The Bibliophagist tagged me in the Spring Cleaning Book Tag.

Her post on it is here – please go check it out! If you’ve ever tagged me in something (that has pinged back to me! Make sure it pings back to me!) then I promise I will do it. It may take a century or two but your will, will be done.

Q1

Aw! Thank you for thinking that I have friends 🙂

Ok, well I do and not just the ones that live in my mind.

Got to be honest here – if I have a book on my nightstand it is because I am actually reading it, have it lined up to next read or am currently using it for referencing purposes. None of this ‘reading’ malarkey. Also, I don’t give any concern as to whether it impresses anyone! Ah. Being old makes you liberated!

I’m going to go with the truth on this one. I have seven books on my nightstand and the one on the top of the pile is this: –

epiphany

Q2

Bold of you to assume I dust.

Its one that I haven’t read yet but if I needed to switch one of the ones I currently have on my TBR to an audio book it would probably be this one:-

the graveyard

Apparently Neil Gaiman narrates his own audio books and he is a rather engaging and eloquent speaker so I think it would be a good shout.

Q3

I would normally say ‘Caraval’ (which still applies) but I’m also going to throw this into the ring. I have a strange fascination with this series in that I either despise the characters within it or adore them and want to rescue them from the pages and put them into better written, better plotted books that aren’t an excuse to sell badly executed porn to 13 year old girls while exuding toxic masculinity but managing to masquerade as ‘feminism’ and ‘sex positivity.’

I have my issues with this particular series. I have my issues with this particular book.

ACOFAS

Q4

You know what? This is a pet peeve of mine! Books in bathrooms… it’s a hard no from me in the real world. *Shudders*

But in the name of the game I would go with something jovial and light. I would choose this one:-

yes man

The fact that it’s in the bathroom is no reflection on quality. It’s just lighthearted and contains a giggle or two while being strangely uplifting!

Q5

I didn’t hate the ending, I just didn’t love it and this was the first book that came to mind when I thought about endings I didn’t like.

I like the idea though that you could secretly feed someone a book and they start absorbing the traits or personality of one of the characters or that suddenly they start experiencing events of the book… power in words and all that.

Hold on. I’ve got another ruddy idea for another ruddy story now. Sigh.

Q6

adored Uprooted by Naomi Novik and I must have Spinning Silver!

I have always wanted to read Howl’s Moving Castle ever since I watched the movie and discovered it was in fact based on a book.

I have recently read The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo and my interest is now totally piqued to read Six of Crows!

Q7

Hmmm. This is tricky because I like giving gifts as books and don’t think they should be used as a spiteful/ sarcastic gift!

I can’t think of anything in particular but that being said I would probably gift from the lowest rated Goodreads books. This way it is sarcastic without being sarcastic – ya feel me?

So, after a quick peek at the lowest rated books and choosing one which is not an obvious gift of sarcasm I guess it would be…

handbook

But then I don’t think I’m that much of a d*ck.

I’m not tagging anyone in this one because I’m not sure who would want me to tag them! Please let me know if you want me to tag you in stuff because I have a whole bunch more tags to do and I love seeing what other people put!

If you want to do this one please take it! Don’t forget to tag me in it so I can see your answers!

    1. Do it! I am still in the process of actually spring cleaning my house (I started in May and it’s now August so what does that tell you?!) and thoroughly encourage abandoning all concepts of time. I often post my Top 5 Wednesday on any day *other* than Wednesday!

  1. I really want to read Howl’s Moving Castle too! It’s been on my TBR for ages, so I totally need to get that done. And girlll, I totally feel you on how the ACOTAR series is porn for young girls. My next review is this series, and everything you said about it (toxic masculinity, sex positivity NOT) is on point. Awesome answers! 😀

    1. I’m desperate to read Howl’s! I have The Princess Bride to read first because I just cannot believe that I haven’t read that yet in my life. I have so many words about the ACOTAR series that sometimes I think if I were to write what I truly felt I would drive a good chunk of people away because it’s such a popular series. I’ve seen that you’ve written some posts, I’m a tad behind but I’m looking forward to getting to those when I catch up!

      1. lol I haven’t read Princess Bride either, I can’t believe it either. And no pressure! I know you’re uber busy with your wedding, so no need to feel obliged. Focus on being happy at the most momentous time of your life! 😊 ❤
