Bookish

I am greedy. I want all the tags. Give me all the tags!! Because Marina @ Books of Magic knows that I am a greedy person who adores doing these things she has tagged me in the Unique Blogger Award!

Thank you Marina! Keep ’em coming as I will always do them! Unless I lose both thumbs. Ok, even then I will still do them.

Q1.4

mermaids

But not just the pretty, Disney kind, oh no. I like them tragic aka the original The Little Mermaid and I like them creepy and weird like in Harry Potter and I like them beautiful and deadly like in Pirates of the Caribbean and I like them down right horrifying like in this YouTube video (’tis dark).

Ah. Mermaids. Whose to say that they don’t exist. Yep, I’m never going into the ocean again.

Q2.1

ink 2

The picture of the cover doesn’t do it justice as everything that is orange is foil and it looks so pretty and shiny. I must have been a magpie in a previous life because…. shiny.

The cover images also relate to the symbolism of the story which is pretty neat but the story itself? I really tried to like it. I wanted to like it. I just couldn’t. It was a miracle I finished it.

Review is written up and pending posting.

Q3.1 new zealand

I’m very happy because me and my partner are going in November for our honeymoon and I couldn’t be more excited for it. We’re calling it Hobbits on Tour because we are both not exactly known for being tall.

Here are my three…

  1. “Nevermore,” quoth the Raven but it’s actually trying to tell you to stop doing *that thing* that you keep doing which you shouldn’t be doing. What is *that thing*?
  2. You meet a witch in the woods and she offers you the gift to be able to see one moment in one person’s life – any moment and any person. Who and what do you choose?
  3. And because I like them so much… you’re bathing by the sea when you notice a mermaid watching you from the water. It’s offering you something, what is it? Do you take it?

nominess

I’m going to cheat and not nominate any one person but offer this up as a ‘free for all’ for those inclined to want to answer my wombat questions. If you do answer please let me know as I would love to know the answers!

  1. Ahh yes, creepy-ish mermaids are the best. Forget the pretty fin-flipping ones, I’d take the horrifying ones any day (as long as they’re just in my books 😂) And same here, I wanted to read Ink because of that gorgeous cover, but the reviews weren’t as good as I’d liked. And WOOT! New Zealand is the number one place I’d like to visit as well, so I’m very jealous that you’re going there for your honeymoon. I hope you have a lovely time! 😀

    1. Yeah Ink just didn’t do it for me sadly. It was almost a DNF but I persevered out of some weird sense of guilt. I love creepy mermaids but then I have a strange phobia of sharks and so I think my fascinating with creepy mermaids is tied into that somehow. Must be that ‘enjoyment of being scared’ feeling!

  2. Ahhh love your answers! I adore mermaids, and yes the evil/ugly ones too, and that short film is awesome! Have you read Alice Hoffman’s The museum of extraordinary things? Also – New Zealand ahhhh, I’m so glad you get to go there, and that’s a terrific idea for a honeymoon! Take all the pictures and have fun in Hobbitland haha. 😀 I also love your cool questions sooo I’ll either do this award again, but it’s kind of lame to self-invite myself to an award, or I’ll post my answers here in the comments. 😀

    1. I love The Museum of Extraordinary Things! It’s the first Alice Hoffman book I’ve read and it made me go out and buy a whole bunch more. I’m reading Practical Magic at the moment actually and enjoying it so far. Poor Sally, I just want to hug her a whole bunch. I think I’m borderline obsessed with mermaids and witches and books about sisters. I’m actually writing one at the moment about all three because that is the level of fan I am.

We’ve already booked our Hobbiton tickets! I can’t wait! I’m far more excited about the honeymoon than the wedding.

Self-invite away! That’s how I get to go to all the parties.

      1. Me too and me too haha! Aww I know, Sally is a poor thing, I loved her character the most. Me too haha, though I’d add faeries to the mix xD Hahaha that sounds awesome and I hope I’ll get to read it! 😀

Ooooh cool! Hahahaha I totally get you. 😀
