Book Edit: A Monster Calls

Book Edit.png

Hello happy readers! Or at least I hope you are happy readers? If not then I recommend a long nap, a brisk walk or a good book. Do all three. Simultaneously if you can.

Why not have a G&T while you’re at it?

Today is…

world book day

Yay! What a wonderful, beautiful day.

I’m celebrating it by being um… at work… and am…um… working. Apart from right this second when I’m taking a cheeky moment to post this.

I shall forewarn you now. I’m going to be spamming the shizzle out of you this week. I’m going to Florence from Thursday to Sunday so there will be no blogging from me during this time as I shall be getting fat on wine and pasta and pizza. It’s ok, steady those tears.

Wait, you don’t appear to be crying.

I was going to say that I’m still planning on doing four blog posts this week but I’ll just have to squeeze them in Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Oh,Β nowΒ you’re crying.

My plan (if all goes accordingly) is to post the following:-

  1. One book edit
  2. One desperate plea for someone to stop me spending money otherwise known as the new book haul I have after ‘popping in’ Waterstones to ‘take a look’
  3. One book review
  4. One Top 5 Wednesday

Life doesn’t always go to plan it didn’t exactly go a happy way for the characters in ‘A Monster Calls.’ I wrote a review on this book which you can find here.

I won’t repeat what I said as you can find it all in the review if you are so inclined but needless to say; it broke me a little and I gave it five stars.

Now, I’m no good at edits or aesthetics. I’m not visually inclined but I really enjoy when other people do them and I had great fun putting this one together. I already have three more pending and hope to do more.

This is probably a sad one to start with but we must all start somewhere.

Enjoy!

  1. Is “Book Edits” what these are officially called (I’m so clueless lol)? Because I’ve also recently gotten into making aesthetic collages (turns out they’re quite addicting) and was thinking of doing posts called “Aesthetics Sunday” but had no idea if there was an Official Book Blog Meme Name for it! πŸ˜€

Love the Monster Calls edit and have an awesome time in Florence! ❀

    1. I have no clue if ‘book edit’ is what they are supposed to be called, I’ve seen them before called ‘edits,’ ‘aesthetics,’ ‘moodboards’ etc. so I just went with the most basic! I am a tad clueless too so I am the worst person to be guided by! They are so addictive though, definitely time consuming and fiddly but I love doing them! Some I’ve seen others do are really special and I just fawn over them!

Thank you, I’m looking forward to Florence, the weather is supposed to be lovely so I’ll make the most of it!

  2. Love this photo collage you did, it really reflects the book. πŸ™‚ Have a great time in Florence! I’m going to Geneva on Thursday and today I went to buy a new suitcase and some travel thingies but I ended up with just the suitcase, two unicorn glasses and a flamingo notebook >__> Oh well. I can’t wait to stuff myself with cheese and chocolate. πŸ˜€ Anywho, what I really wanted to say is why don’t you just schedule the posts? I’ll do that. πŸ™‚ It seems easier, though I’m not sure I’ll reply to any comments while there. πŸ˜€ Anyway, I look forward to your posts! πŸ˜€

    1. Thank you! I’m really looking forward it, we’re flying into Pisa so will do the whole ‘touristy leaning thing’ while we’re there! Unicorn glasses and a flamingo notebook are very essential items! That reminds me of a writing exercise I had to do once in a class where they got us to look through our bags, pull out 6 random items, and create a new characters our of our own objects! Mine were not as interesting!

You mention scheduling like I know what I’m doing hahaha! Half of this stuff is me clicking on buttons and hoping I don’t implode the universe!

      1. Ahahaha well everyone’s doing it, so you have to do it! πŸ˜€ I know, water just tastes better out of a unicorn glass! Ahahaha, well the contents of my bag are also boring, I keep my special stuff locked up at home. πŸ˜€ But that writing exercise sounds awesome!

Ahahaha you’re telling that to me – I’ve managed to do an opposite of a schedule once, somehow the post got published with a 3-day old date, I have no idea what I’m doing here. xD

        1. I’m off on a three week honeymoon in November so I think I better get my head wrapped around this scheduling malarkey for that! Eep. I may need to do some practice runs first!

          1. Woohoohoo congratulations! πŸ˜€ If it’s your honeymoon that is hahaha. πŸ˜€ Well it’s easy, when you’re writing the post, it’s the first option on the right hand sidebar – status. You click on that, then on the arrow next to ‘publish immediately’ and then a calendar opens up, and you choose a date, and time. πŸ™‚ You can backdate too, like I accidentally did, but I don’t know why anyone would do that. xD
